December is here, and that means it’s time for winter performances! All programs are doing something this season, so why not check it out.
Band
The Hayfield bands have been hard at work, for some bands since the beginning of the year, preparing for this concert. Featuring selections from the percussion ensemble, symphonic band, wind ensemble, and select small ensembles. This will be the first concert of the school year that all classes will participate in. The concert is on Tuesday, December 5th at 7pm in the Hayfield auditorium. Junior flautist, Arthur Alatis, has put a lot of time in to perfect their craft. “There’s been a pretty quick turnaround since the fall concert, but even though it’s challenging the music has been really fun, and we’ve all been working hard on it. I’m really excited for people to come out and see [our] hard work.” Alatis said.
Orchestra
The Hayfield orchestras will host their middle and high school concerts on Wednesday December 6th, middle school at 6 and high school 7:30. With performances from the Bravo, Concert, Sinfonietta, Symphonic, and Chamber orchestras and a special performance including members of band and choir.
Choir
The week after band and orchestras, the Hayfield choirs will be hosting their winter concert. Junior tenor and bass section leader, Conner Smith, is excited for what this concert means for the future of the program. “This year, our music has gotten a lot more complicated as the program is finally [stable] and we don’t have a new teacher every year. Now that the advanced choir is a real satb choir, our repertoire is [much] more complex.” Smith said. The concert is on Tuesday December 12th.
