Headline: Squid Game Season 2: A Thrilling Return or a Disappointing Cliffhanger? Hayfield Students Weigh In
Squid Games, the South Korean thriller, was released on Netflix in 2021. The series quickly became an all-time favorite throughout the US and Hayfield remains true to the pattern.
Some viewers state that the second season fell short versus the first season, it was rushed and ended with a jaw-dropping cliffhanger.
Freshman Jalani Welch said she couldn’t even finish the second season.
“It was boring,” Welch said. “I liked the first season but could barely get through the second season. I think it was almost a little too similar to the first one, which made it boring to me. I would give it a 5 out of 10.”
In contrast, another student added that they loved the new season- even better than the last.
“I loved all the new characters, maybe except for, like, two, but everyone in the new season just made sense. The new season was overall really good. But it was too short,” freshman Jaquliene Ramirez said.
However, the season had its flaws, as Coach Overton points out.
“I didn’t like the ending,” Overton said. “They left us on such a cliffhanger, but I think it just leaves more space for a new season to come out. So I look forward to squid games [season] three. I would rate it a 10 out of 10. I love the show no matter what.”
Although the ending of season two was frustrating, some saw it as a thrilling opportunity for a season three.
“It was a cliffhanger. I was shocked because I was interested in this season. I think it’s better than the last season, but I liked the last season too. If I could rate the series 1-10 I would rate it an 8.5 out of 10 just because of that cliffhanger,” senior Kandace Williams said.
Williams isn’t alone on her high end rating.
“I would give both seasons a 10 out of 10,” junior Mya Obite said.
As students and staff wait for the next season, theories and speculations continue to pile up.
No matter if you enjoyed the surprises, were frustrated by the cliffhanger, or are still trying to figure out all the plots, one thing’s for certain: Squid Games really knows how to keep us on our toes. If you enjoy high action/thrillers this is the show for you according to Hayfield students and staff.
