As this school year has come to an end, many students have experienced a year full of growth and change. We all experienced progress in many different ways, such as academically and socially. Additionally, we all have our hopes for the next school year and what we want to achieve and do better.
“I feel like I’ve made some progress in my school work because I’m getting better grades and improving academically. However, something that I wish I could have done better was making the school soccer team. For the next school year, I don’t have an exact idea of what I want, but I will eventually,” freshman Julia Endalkaehew said. “The advice I would give to the students who are entering high school is, don’t mess around unless you want to find out the consequences of your actions.”
At the end of this year, it is evident that students’ regret stemmed from feelings of poor performance in a certain subject, not going for a specific activity, or not showing up altogether- such as in their attendance.
“I also feel like I made growth this school year in terms of academics. I feel like I could have gotten better school attendance. My hopes for the next school year are to reach a better understanding of my career work, but I want to learn more about what I want to do in the future,” freshman Amara Phe Rom said. “The advice I would give to the students who are entering high school is to have fun and enjoy your freshman year while you can, but know your limits and make sure to take care of your grades because they do matter.”
Students are trying to learn time management in order to maintain balance between having fun and enjoying themselves while also focusing on keeping their grades up and having a good GPA.
“I made some growth this school year. I have gotten better at turning in my work and getting my grades up. It’s the fourth quarter, so I’m trying to lock back in. Something I could have done better was turn work in on time, turning it in late is still good cause you’re turning it in, but I would rather have done it on time. I’m graduating this school year, so I’m hoping to go to college, but if not…I goto trade school. The advice I would give to students who are entering high school is to just listen. It’s good to get experience, but it’s also important to do what you’re told. You’re better off locking in freshman year because your GPA matters,” Kalyne Orr, a senior at Hayfield, said.
Students have felt they have made some improvements and getting ready for college while some other students felt they made improvement socially and are now outgoing.
I feel like I made growth this school year because last year I was really in my zone but this year I’m outgoing and try to make friends. Something I wished I did better was paying attention in class. My hopes for next year are to be successful and do good. The advice I would give to younger students who are entering highschool is “don’t procrastinate”, Kate Kiarie, a senior at Hayfield said.
Everyone had growth in different ways throughout the school year, but overall we had similar growth, hopes for the next school year, and what they wished they could have done differently, but also what they advice of what incoming freshmen should do when they enter highschool.
