The Washington football team has announced that their new name going forward will be the Washington Commanders. This name change comes off the back of two seasons as the Washington Football Team after having originally been the Washington Redskins. The name was considered racist and offensive towards Native Americans which is why people called for the change. More sports team names are under the microscope of their true meaning and there have been multiple name changes over the past few years including Cleveland’s Major League Baseball, who recently changed their name to the Cleveland Guardians. This also came off the backlash from names being racist in nature and not socially acceptable. The Washington Commanders unveiled new uniforms and their new logo.
