“I’m excited for the season. I think we have a new team and a lot of young players, so it’s exciting really just to see how we’re gonna do this year,” sophomore point guard Chase Jackson said.
The 2025-2026 basketball season has officially begun and the Hayfield boys varsity team is ready. With the loss of seven seniors last year, Hayfield was forced to build a whole new roster this season, player-by-player. The boys varsity team is usually made up of juniors and seniors, however, this year, three sophomores and even a freshman, Christian Towe, have made the team. Even though the younger players are new to varsity, they have proven in practices and in the first few scrimmages that they can still play at the varsity level.
“I think we’ve been doing good at practice, just trying to build chemistry,” Jackson said.
The team seems to have a really strong sense of chemistry in the way that they move on the ball while playing, the way they treat each other, and in the way that they present themselves as a united front. That is why multiple players believe that they will win states this year.
“We are going to win regionals, districts, and all of the above,” senior shooting guard and small forward Landon Judy said.
This optimism is shared by teammates, coaches, and even fans. There is great hope for a successful season this year and lots of excitement following this year’s new team.
“I don’t think that the team has any weaknesses,” Towe said.
It seems as if Hayfield did a good job constructing their all new team. The players are all very talented and the overall environment just seems to be very goal oriented. Hayfield definitely has a good chance at winning states this year.
