When the holiday season was upon us, we watched as people covered their houses in lights, hung their stockings on their mantels, and baked their days away. But what happened when December was over? The lights, the stockings, the smell of cookies, all slowly began to fade as time persisted. However, this shift didn’t mark the season as over. Instead, the feeling of holiday cheer had quickly turned into a feeling of rejuvenation. The New Year was soon to come.
As New Year’s Eve approached, people all around the world began to reflect on the year that passed, and used that reflection as a way to reshape their future. Goals were set and plans were made, as a way to prepare ourselves to become even more happy and successful in the new year. Goals within each person vary, but all of which came from the same place, the strive for a more prosperous year than the one before it.
For Evelina Tatevosyan, new year’s resolutions ultimately revolved around academics and work ethic.
“I want to maintain my grades,” freshman Evelina Tatevosyan said. “I want to be better with time management.”
This past year, Tatevosyan struggled with procrastination. She tried her best to keep her priorities in clear vision, but as most of us can relate, her vision became blurry as distractions overwhelmed her.
“I want to leave procrastination [in 2025],” freshman Evelina Tatevosyan said.
Additionally, Tatevosyan hopes to spend her new year not only bettering herself in the classroom, but also by engaging herself in further after school activities, showing just how much better she strives to be.
“I want to be more active in my other clubs,” freshman Evelina Tatevosyan said.
As we can see, Tatevosyan is just one example among many that longs to create an even more ambitious version of herself than before, paving the way for a wonderful and triumphant 2026 new year. So, as the lights are taken down, the stockings are slowly put away, and the smell of cookies slowly fades from our kitchens, remember to fill the air with more resolutions and drives of success.
